Volkan Sevim received his PhD in Physics in 2008. He studied the cell cycle in yeast during his postdoctoral training at UCSF. He then worked at the Joint Genome Institute as a bioinformatician/data scientist contributing to various NGS projects ranging from stem cell biology to metagenomics. Besides computational biology and bioinformatics, Volkan is interested in machine learning and its applications, as well as high-performance computing.
